It's all about the community

Being a national business we get to be involved in a wide range of community activities and each branch has the autonomy to integrate within their own region and display their own personality. The Queenstown branch is run by locals and is proud to be part of many community activities and a supporter of local business.

Business

We have made every effort to support local businesses in both Queenstown and Wanaka. Our collection fleet in Wanaka fully utilise the services of Wanaka tractors, Aspiring engineers, Wanaka electrical, Local labour hire offices and our staff are all based in the Wanaka/Upper Clutha region.

Our Queenstown operations support local businesses such as Queenstown engineering, Queenstown office supplies, World cars, Torque automotive, Campbell electrical and All electric, plus a host of other local sites.  We feel it is important to support the local economy and being 100% NZ owned and operated it just makes sense.

Read below to get a taste of what we have been up to recently within the  Community.

Te Kakano Tree planting - New site

Over the past six years, Smart has contributed funds to plant  1200 Native trees to offset our carbon footprint, this includes all the plant feed-stock. We are delighted to remain with Te Kakano trust as they progress to plant at alternative sites, one of  which is the  Bullock wetlands

Anglican Parish - St Peters Church Fundraiser

Donation of  Services, October, 2015

Smart Environmental aknowledge that  many fundraisers are reliant on the  support of local services to enable them to make as much money as possible to help support their causes. We are more than pleased to help the Anglican Church in their annual fundraisers and  like to contribute to the  community where  possible

From all accounts the  weather was fine and the  fundraiser went well.

Queenstown Family Centre  -  Fundraiser

Sponsorship, April, 2015

It goes without saying that Family is at the heart of any successful business, what happens at home can often affect what happens at work, so we are pleased to play a part in supporting the Queenstown Family centre.  We had a blast being part of the bubble soccer fundraiser tournament in Queenstown, what a great way to teambuild as well as provide some funding for a great cause.

Food and Wine Festival

Sponsorship, March 16, 2015

We have been part of the food and wine festival for the past six years and it is a relationship that we look forward to retaining. Many of our valued clients are situated in the beautiful Gibbston Valley and they demonstrate sustainable practises and are all environmentally responsible businesses. To show our support and to say thank you for their custom we provide a full event recycling and waste system, ensuring they are part of a truly  sustainable, and  environmentally responsible  event

Bike Festival

Sponsorship, March13, 2015

Once again we are proud to be one of a great  list of sponsors for the Queenstown Bike Festival. Cycling is growing in popularity and it is a sport that fosters better health, includes a  wide range  of  age groups, and  is a sport that has an appreciation and reliance on of our environment . These are qualities  we share and  we  intend to keep supporting this  event. Check out the  bike  festsival site: www.queenstownbikefestival.com

Fundraiser

Neonatal & Premature babies, Nov 16, 2014

It was great to support this fundraiser and to see the community turn up and enjoy a great day at Lakes Hayes. There was plenty of  support from local businesses including Smart Environmental .

Carbon Foot Print

As part of our successful tender for the Wanaka kerbside collection, Smart Environmental offered to offset our carbon footprint and began a relationship with the Aotea Trust supporting a tree planting scheme. We see this relationship continuing and we are pleased to be a part of such a great environmental scheme.
