Growing Glass diversion

Smart Environmental have been growing glass collections in the Queenstown district and have introduced inititaives around private commercial glass, and developed residential drop points. We also provide the collection of glass bottle banks from Pac n Save, Countdown and additional commercial site such as Sherwood Manor. As a gold member of Wasteminz and a supporter of the glass packaging forum we are continously looking for more glass diversion opportunities in the region. Over the recent past months we have grown the glass diversion considerably and have transported over 60 tonnes off site. This glass is turned back into bottle. We are working closely with other local regional businesses

Good on you CountDown

Great to hear the announcement that Count Down are going plastic free by the end of 2018. They announced that single-use plastic bags will be removed from its stores and online shopping by the end of next year. About 350 million plastic bags are set to be removed every year, as supermarkets SuperValue and FreshChoice also commit to becoming single-use plastic-bag free.
